Ques. 1JEE Main 2025, 4 April (Morning Shift)

Distance between object and its image (magnified by - 13) is 30 cm. The focal length of the mirror used is ( x4 )cm, where magnitude of value of x is .

Answer

45

Solution

m = - 13 (real, inverted, diminished) concave mirror, object beyond 2F; object and image on the same side.

m = - vu = - 13 v = u3, i.e. |v| = |u|3

Distance between them: |u| - |v| = 30 2|u|3 = 30 |u| = 45 cm, |v| = 15 cm

With u = -45 cm, v = -15 cm:

1f = 1v + 1u = - 115 - 145 = - 445

f = - 454 cm = x4 cm x = -45

|x| = 45

Answer: 45
