Ques. 1JEE Main 2025, 7 April (Morning Shift)

Given below are two statements : In the light of the given statements, choose the correct answer from the options given below :

  1. Both Statement I and Statement II are true
  2. Statement I is true but Statement II is false
  3. Both Statement I and Statement II are false
  4. Statement I is false but Statement II is true

Answer

(2) Statement I is true but Statement II is false

Solution

Mohr's salt is FeSO4 (NH4)2SO4 6H2O, which dissociates as

FeSO4 (NH4)2SO4 Fe2+ + 2NH4+ + 2SO42-

so it gives only three types of ions and Statement I is true.

By Kohlrausch's law,

m = Fe2+ + 2 NH4+ + 2 SO42-

= x1 + 2x2 + 2x3 x1 + x2 + 2x3

so Statement II is false.

Answer: (2)
