Ques. 1AIPMT 2008

Which one of the following is not a characteristic of Phylum Annelida?

  1. Pseudocoelom
  2. Ventral nerve cord
  3. Closed circulatory system
  4. Segmentation

Answer

(1) Pseudocoelom

Solution

As per NCERT, annelids are coelomate animals; their body surface is distinctly marked out into segments or metameres, they possess a closed circulatory system, and the neural system consists of paired ganglia connected by lateral nerves to a double ventral nerve cord.

∵ Annelids have a true coelom,

∴ pseudocoelom is not a characteristic of Annelida (it is seen in Aschelminthes).
