Solution
As per NCERT, the follicular phase (proliferative phase) runs from the end of menstruation, and both LH and FSH attain a peak level in the middle of the cycle (about the 14th day).
This rapid secretion of LH (LH surge) induces rupture of the Graafian follicle and thereby the release of the ovum (ovulation), which is then followed by the luteal phase (secretory phase).
∴ Ovulation normally takes place at the end of the proliferative phase.
